Wait for me and I’ll come back,
But do wait for me,
Wait when yellow long rains
Bring you dreary days.

Wait when snowy blizzard comes,
Wait when it is hot,
Wait when others’re not waited, Alas!
They were forgotten, not thought.

Wait when from the places remote
Letters do not come,
Wait when those ones get bored
Who say: waiting is dumb.

Wait for me and I’ll come back,
Don't wish anything good
To everyone who knows by heart:
It’s time to forget. You should!

May the son and mother believe
That I am not alive,
May the friends get tired of waiting.
They will sit by the fire,

They will drink some bitter wine
To recall my soul.
Wait. And don’t be in a hurry
To drink it with them all.

Wait for me and I’ll come back,
To spite all the deaths.
May those who didn’t wait for me
Say: Lucky. Second breath.

They, not waited, won’t understand
How in the middle of a fire
You have saved me, wife and friend,
By your waiting, by your desire!

Only you and me will know
How I have survived
You just knew how to wait
None like you I can find.
